Quantify Everything

Consulting firms live and breathe numbers. Every bullet should include at least one of:

Dollar amounts (revenue, cost savings, investment size)

Percentages (growth rate, efficiency improvement, market share)

Scale metrics (team size, number of stakeholders, project scope)

Time metrics (speed of delivery, reduction in cycle time)

Leadership and Extracurriculars

For undergrad and MBA candidates, the leadership section is critically important. McKinsey explicitly evaluates "personal impact" — your ability to lead, inspire, and drive change outside of your professional role:

Strong: "President of the 200-member Consulting Club; organized 15 case workshops and a national case competition with 500+ participants"

Weak: "Member of the Consulting Club"

Activities that demonstrate entrepreneurship, community impact, athletic achievement, or artistic excellence at a high level are all valued.

Common Consulting Resume Mistakes
